Frequently asked questions

What is free, and what does Pro include?
The free edition keeps up to three scripts editable at once, with up to 20 source pages in each. Listening, manual cueing, timed gaps, line hiding, notes, line recordings and single-line review are included. For each supported language, up to two basic device voices can be used in a script, and every available voice can be previewed. You can also try automatic cueing on the first 10 lines of the role you select. Pro is a one-time purchase with no renewal and no time-limited full-feature trial. It unlocks more projects, imports up to 200 pages, all available voices and voice presets, focused practice for lines that need work, saved practice sets, multiple role setups, comparing a new script version and carrying preparations across, a printable rehearsal PDF, extra themes, and self-tape recording with an on-screen prompt. A single imported file must be under 200 MB. Longer automatic cueing still needs on-device speech recognition and the permissions you grant.
Will my script be uploaded?
Scripts, original pages, notes, line recordings and videos are processed and stored on your device. CueStitch does not operate a server for that content, and this version cannot turn on personal iCloud sync because no iCloud container is configured. Text recognition, system voices and automatic cueing stay on the device. Apple and RevenueCat handle purchase information. A file is sent elsewhere only when you choose to share, export, print or save it, or when you email support.
How do I restore Pro on a new device?
Sign in with the Apple Account used for the original purchase, then open Settings → Restore purchases in CueStitch. An internet connection is needed. If access is still missing, email hi@kaielian.com with the app version, iOS version and the steps you tried. Please do not include payment details. The feedback draft can include a RevenueCat app user ID, which you may remove before sending.
How does automatic cueing use the microphone?
The microphone and speech recognition are used only after you start automatic cueing, record a line or record a self-tape. Recognition is required to stay on this device. There is no cloud fallback, and that listening session is not saved as a continuous recording. A countdown or timed gap does not listen to decide whether you have finished. If on-device recognition is unavailable for the script language, you can keep rehearsing manually.
Which scripts can I import?
You can import text PDFs, scanned PDFs, Fountain files, images and pasted text, scan pages with the camera, or open a PDF or Fountain script from Mail or Files. Check detected scenes, character names and dialogue against your original. Complex layouts and handwriting may need correction. Each imported file must be readable and smaller than 200 MB.
Can I rehearse without a network connection?
Yes, once the voices you need are available on the device. Basic rehearsal, notes and saved recordings do not require CueStitch to upload the script. Downloading a system voice, verifying a purchase or restoring Pro may need a connection. Those voice downloads are handled by iOS.
How do self-tape and Photos access work?
The camera is used when you scan script pages or open the self-tape preview. New self-tape recording and its on-screen prompt are part of Pro, and recording uses manual cueing. Videos stay on the device unless you export one or choose Save to Photos. That save asks only for permission to add the video. Importing a photo uses the item you select and does not request access to your whole library.
Why is a voice or automatic cueing unavailable?
System voices and on-device recognition depend on the script language, the voices installed on your device and Apple’s on-device speech support. You can preview installed voices, choose another voice, or record a line yourself. Automatic cueing explains why it cannot start and leaves manual rehearsal available. CueStitch does not send the script to a speech service of its own.
How do I delete my data?
Delete projects inside the app. Recently Deleted keeps them available to restore until you remove them permanently. Storage Management can clear generated voice audio; it keeps your scripts, your own recordings, videos and backups. iOS Delete App removes local app data, while Offload App keeps it. Videos saved to Photos, exported files and device backups must be deleted in those places. This version does not upload projects to iCloud. Contact hi@kaielian.com about support or purchase-related records.
What should I include when reporting a problem?
Email hi@kaielian.com and describe what you expected and what happened. The app’s feedback draft adds the app version and build, iOS version, device model, selected language, whether Pro is active, and the RevenueCat app user ID. It does not attach your script, recordings or videos. Read the draft and remove anything you do not want to send, including the app user ID. Please do not include payment details.
